LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- A Las Vegas jury convicted a man Monday for injuring four people when he fired into a crowd on the Strip seven years ago.

The jury found Robert Jackson, of Las Vegas, guilty of attempted murder and battery as well as being an ex-felon in possession of a gun.

Prosecutors said four people were hit by bullets from a handgun. Three were tourists and one was a local resident. The shootings occurred Aug. 19, 2007, outside Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville on the Strip.

The state’s attorney told jurors the shootings erupted during a fight between two rival gangs, the Squad Up, of which Jackson was a member, and the Wood.

Much of the fight was captured on surveillance video. The video showed Jackson running south and ditching his polo shirt in a trash can.

Jackson evaded police for seven years before he was captured in Chicago. During that period he was featured five times on the “America’s Most Wanted” TV program and was placed on the U.S. Marshals Service’s 15 most-wanted list.

The jury took about two hours to reach its verdict. Jackson’s attorney said he intends to appeal the decision.
