Man charged in stabbing that paralyzes victim on Boulder Hwy.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- A 27-year-old Las Vegas man has been charged with murder in a stabbing attack that left the victim paralyzed.

Raymond Jackson allegedly stabbed 23-year-old Francisco Alcantara in the 4800 block of Boulder Highway shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

The arrest report said reports of the stabbing were received about 1:08 a.m. Officers found Alcantara lying motionless in the parking lot of Siegel Suites bleeding profusely from his head and neck. While awaiting an ambulatory response, Alcanata told officers that he was unable to move his arm and legs.

The victim was transported to Sunrise Hospital where medical staff determined he had suffered a cervical spine fracture Causing him to lose sensation in his extremities. Because of his condition he was not able to give much information abut the suspect.

Later Saturday the victim had regained some movement in his arms, but still had no use of his legs.

The arrest report says the victim and suspect had become acquainted with each other during the past three months and had used drugs on occasion. They had an altercation shortly after midnight Friday that resulted in the stabbing.
