LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- The three officers involved in Tuesday's shooting on North Rancho Drive have been identified by Metro.

The officers have been identified as officers Darrin Kaplan, Chrisnar Sok and Christian Belt.

Kaplan, 44, and has been employed by Metro since June of 2008. Sok, 28, has been with Metro since June of 2009. Belt, 35, has been with Metro since October of 2008.

All officers are assigned to Metro's Patrol Division, Bolden Area Command, and have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.

The man shot has been identified as 29-year-old Jason Mahe. As of Wednesday, he was in critical condition.

Police say Mahe tried to use a counterfeit $20-dollar bill at a 7-Eleven, so the convenience store called police. Officers found Mahe across the street at Dotty's Casino and were able to persuade him to come outside.

"They started a conversation with the individual. That person immediately produced a firearm, the officers perceived a threat," said Metro Captain Csaba Maczala.

And that's when as the three officers responded with gunfire.

"He was not able to get any rounds off, but did produce a firearm and the officers definitely perceived a threat and felt their lives were in danger," Maczala said.

Police say Mahe was shot multiple times and was taken to UMC.

Mahe was in violation of parole in Ohio and considered armed and dangerous. Mahe was booked in absentia for the fugitive warrant, and additional charges are pending.

There was also a note in his record of having "suicide-by-cop" tendencies, according to Metro.
