LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- Metro detectives are investigating a hit-and-run accident that injured a 12-year-old, when shots were fired at a car that hit a boy while he was riding a bicycle.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Friday near East Lake Mead and North Pecos.

Metro said a car was driving recklessly and hit the boy while he was on his bicycle, then hit some parked cars. The car made a u-turn and took off.

Metro said somebody fired gunshots at the car, thinking that the vehicle was turning around to run over the boy. Nobody was struck by the gunfire.

The boy was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Metro did locate the car and the suspect, but had not released any details as of noon Saturday.
