LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Four Metro officers were involved in the fatal shooting on Tuesday in the 5400 block of Palm Steet.
The officers include Michael Henry, Chad Cruse, Brooke Lavin and Bengamin Baldassarre.
Henry,43, has been with Metro since September 2003.
Cruse, 29, has been Metro since September 2010.
Lavin, 35, has worked fro Metro since January 2001.
Baldassarre, 30, has been with Metro since April, 2009.
The man killed was 46-year-old Henderson resident Herbert Earl Greene.
All officers are assigned to the Southeast Area Command, and have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of the fatal shooting.
The situation began as a barricade situation. Metro police were on scene all day to investigate the incident, which started with a call from the suspect telling officers he was going to die today.
A usually quiet neighborhood filled with single-family homes near Palm Street and Hacienda was soon interrupted by gunfire.
Metro police Capt. Matt McCarthy says a man called 911 around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Once officers arrived, police say the man came in and out of a house several times. As a precaution, police closed off streets in the area.
When he came outside the last time, there were police lining up on the street, and he started walking toward them.
Officers saw he had a handgun in his hand, and as he rounded a corner he confronted several officers and fired at them. The officers then returned fire.
The subject fell to the ground in the middle of the street. He was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.
One officer was hurt in a related incident, but had not been shot.
