NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- North Las Vegas police are searching for two men they say tried to abduct a 12-year-old girl walking to school just before winter break.

The community is hoping a new sketch of one of the men will help lead to an arrest.

Today is the first day of school from holiday break for thousands of students.

Not too far from near Las Vegas Boulevard and Pecos a suspicious van was spotted.

North Las Vegas police are hoping images from a nearby store surveillance will lead them to an arrest. The van was traveling through street in in the area.

North Las Vegas police say the suspect was driving this maroon late 80s Chevy Astro Van.

Police are on the lookout for this vehicle. Detectives say on the morning of December 18 two men in this van approached a 12-year-old girl walking to Von Tobel Middle School. She was approached near Pecos and North Las Vegas Blvd.

The 12-year old tells police a man was driving the van and he is described as a Hispanic male about 30-years-old with facial hair.

The victim says he and another man slid their side door open and demanded she go inside. The girl screamed and ran away toward her school. She was able to get away unharmed.

Police say the victim tells them she saw two other girls inside that van.

Police are asking parents and students to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.
