7:15 p.m. update:
NV Energy has reported that power has been restored to all its customers in the area of Alta and Rainbow. NV Energy has not said what caused the outage.
5:15 p.m. update: About 685 customers remain without power. NV Energy is still working to determine the cause. Complete restoration by 6 p.m. is projected. NV Energy spokeswoman Andrea Smith said she thinks equipment might be the cause of the outage, but that has yet to be officially determined.
4:45 p.m. update: Smith said crews were working on determining the cause. They may have to switch the customers to a different circuit to restore power while they work to fix the cause of the outage. She said she was still hoping for a 5 p.m. restoration of power.

About 1,000 NV Energy customers are without electric service this afternoon in the area of Alta and Rainbow.
The power went out shortly before 2 p.m. and NV Energy's website estimates that it should be restored by 5 p.m. for the 956 customers affected.
The reason for the outage is still being determined.
