LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The Mountain Ridge All-Star team has arrived in Williamsport, Pa., this afternoon to prepare for the Little League World Series.
The team made history Saturday night to become the first team in Nevada history to qualify for the tournament.
Mountain Ridge scored an 11-2 victory over Northern California representative Pacifica American in the West Regional championship in San Bernardino, Calif.
The team of 11 to 13 year olds flew overnight from Los Angeles International Airport to Williamsport.
Mountain Ridge came out swinging in the title game. A three-run home run by Austin Kryszczuk put Mountain Ridge ahead 9-0 in the first inning.
Up first for Mountain Ridge is the Midwest champions, a team from Rapid City, S.D. They will play Thursday.
The team is asking sponsors to assist parents' travel to Williamsport and for the team's expenses while on the road.
We'll have more with the team and coach Ashton Cave on broadcasts tonight.
