LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- News 3 has obtained a shockingly graphic video that police say shows an attempt to take a man's life.

A New Year’s Day shooting led to attempted murder charges. The suspect told police hours later that the shooting was in self-defense. You can see it for yourself on surveillance video obtained by News 3.

The video was quick and violent; police made an arrest hours later.

The victim survived and the shooter was indicted by a grand jury.

This all happened at the XS Cafe Bar at 3650 Jones Blvd., in Las Vegas.

In the video, a car pulls up on the left, just outside the bar. There are people on the right of the screen who don't take notice or react.

Police say the person pulling up is Alen Kareyan.

He walks into the bar with a gun clearly visible in his hand.

There is no audio, but witnesses tell police it was loud.

Kareyan appears to walk directly toward a group of people and then puts the gun to one man's head.

Police say this is Borislav Glavas.

One more time, Kareyan places the gun to Glavas’ head. The two wrestle over the weapon and it goes off.

Glavas is shot once in the stomach and Kareyan stays over him as a woman pleads with him.

He then turns and walks back to his car to take off.

Police pulled him over later that evening, and Kareyan allegedly said, "It’s me. The gun is under the driver’s seat of my car."
