LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A candidate for Nye County sheriff will face a misdemeanor charge related to an incident of removing campaign signs.

Rick Marshall, 56, of Pahrump will face a misdemeanor charge of injury to property arising from a videotaped incident in which he was recorded removing political campaign signs that urged Nye County residents to vote for “Anybody but Rick for Sheriff.”

The charge arises from Marshall’s arrest on April 22. According to the complaint, he was found to be in possession, without permission, of signs which belonged to the political action committee (PAC) “Citizens to Elect an Ethical Nye County Sheriff.”

Marshall was found to be in possession of three signs, each valued at approximately $3. The maximum penalty for injury to property where there is less than $25 in damage is a $500 fine.

Marshall is expected to appear in court to answer the charge at 9 a.m. Sept. 9.
