LAS VEGAS -- The officer involved in the June 25 shooting, which occurred at the 7200 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, has been identified as Officer Sergio MPhillips.
Officer MPhillips is 32 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since September, 2005.
Officer MPhillips is assigned to the Patrol Operations Support, Homeland Security Saturation Team, and has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
The Clark County Coroner's office says 49-year-old Mimi Diane Goldberg was the woman fatally shot by MPhillips Wednesday when she was attacking another woman with a knife.
The cause was multiple gunshot wounds and manner was homicide, according to the coroner.
Officers were called around midnight Wednesday morning to Manor Suites, 7230 Las Vegas Blvd. South, after several people called in to report a person with a knife.
When officers arrived, they saw a woman on a second-story balcony with a knife, slashing at a window of an apartment.
