LAS VEGAS -- Metro police are reporting a pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a 2006 Toyota Corolla at Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.

The accident happened around 2:28 p.m. Thursday.

Police investigating the accident say an adult male was walking southbound across Tropicana Avenue in the west crosswalk of Decatur Boulevard on a pedestrian walk signal.

The Corolla, driven by 39-year-old Stephen Mathis of Las Vegas, was turning right onto westbound Tropicana Avenue from the right turn lane of southbound Decatur Boulevard.

The pedestrian was struck by the right front of the Toyota Corolla and was forced to the ground.

The pedestrian was transported to UMC Trauma by ambulance and is in critical condition.

This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
