Police procession honors CHP Officer killed in Vegas carjacking

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Members of law enforcement from all around Southern Nevada escorted the body of CHP Officer Jesus Magdaleno Jr. and his brother-in-law Felix Cruz III to the California border.

The processional started in Las Vegas at the Palm Mortuary. His body was taken home to California in somber procession down I-15, where it was met at the state line by his fellow officers from California.

Magdaleno and his future brother in law angel Cruz both killed after Police say the men died after suspect James Montgomery carjacked them outside the flamingo in broad daylight on Sunday. The carjacking ended in a deadly crash outside the Rio.

California authorities are now escorting the family and the bodies home to Visalia.

Officer Jesus Magdelano was supposed to be married in September, but today his fiance Nikki stood in front of a Hearse in a tremendously emotional moment when Nevada highway patrol, in full uniform and salute handed over Magdaleno's body to family friends and the CHP.

Montgomery faced a judge this morning, and was charged with murder, kidnapping, robbery and grand larceny of a car.
