LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The Las Vegas legal community is reeling from the knowledge that the Boy Scout shot to death at Fiesta Summer camp is the son of two prominent attorneys in the valley.

Activities have been continuing at the San Diego camp providing an eerie juxtaposition considering just two days ago this was an intense scene where William Shook was found dead.

The 12-year-old was found inside a tent Monday morning with at least one gunshot wound to his upper torso and a handgun nearby. William's Father, John Shook, was a supervisor at this week's camp, and was at the camp when the shooting unfolded. Sources tell News 3 both he and William's mother, Julie, are prominent Las Vegas attorneys.

San Diego Homicide Lieutenant Mike Hastings says investigators have a heavy load ahead of them. Investigators are devoting today to the families at the campsite. Around 300 campers from across the southwest attended this event, and interviews are being held alongisde an assessment of William's mental health.

lt. Hastings said it’s unclear whether the death is a suicide, and that there is the possibility the death may have been accidental -- but it will be up to the medical examiner to make that determination, which can takes months to find out. It still is unclear if William was alone at the time of the shooting.

Investigators are also working on one of the most critical pieces of information -- the origin of the gun. The handgun was unregistered and believed to be brought from Las Vegas, but how it got into William's hands is still a mystery.

lt. Hastings said William’s father was free to go back to Las Vegas, but couldn't confirm if in fact he did. Hastings added that there are no arrests or persons of interest at this time.

The camp will continue uninterrupted, and Williams’ camp group will be leaving on Saturday, with another week-long session beginning on Sunday.
