Rain letting up on Mt. Charleston, flood warning remains

3:20 p.m. update: Rain is decreasing in intensity over southern Nevada, but a flash flood warning for central Clark County remains effective until 5 p.m. The warning covers Rainbow, Kyle and Harris Springs canyons on Mount Charleston as well as Moapa. About three-quarters of an inch of rain has fallen on some parts of the mountain. Downpours upstream could still cause flooding. Some cells continue to pop up across the region for brief periods of time.

2:25 p.m. update:
A flash flood warning was issued at 2:01 p.m. for flash flooding about 15 miles southwest of Overton. The storm was nearly stationary and was producing heavy rain on Interstate 15 between mile posts 72 and 86. Also affected is Crystal. The warning is effective until 5 p.m.

1:55 p.m. update:
The NWS says rain activity is getting a bit heavier over the Carpenter 1 burn scar. Storms have moved around Las Vegas on the west and the east with no rain in the valley.

1:40 p.m. update:
Heavy thunderstorms near in Primm are causing minor urban flooding along Interstate 15 in Primm. Jean and Goodsprings are also likely to be affected. The advisory is effective until 3:45 p.m. Water is expected to rise rapidly in low washes. There is standing water on I-15 both northbound and southbound as of 1:40 p.m.

1 p.m. update:
A flash flood warning has been issued for central Mohave County in northwest Arizona because of heavy rains near Pierce Ferry and Antares roads about 40 miles north of Kingman. Grand Canyon Ranch is also affected.

Travelers on Interstate 15 may see pooling water because of thunderstorms near the Mountain Pass area in California.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for San Bernardino County in Southern California until 3:15 p.m.

At 12:11 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain was falling in the area. Runoff from the storm may cause rapid rises in normally dry washes and ponding water along portions of Interstate 15.

Affected areas also include Nipton and Ivanpah roads and Nipton,

Be alert and do not drive into areas where water covers the road or gravel.

Flight in stolen plane leads to man's arrest

A Piper 44 Seminole aircraft similar to the plane that was taken by a former student pilot early Saturday, May 2, 2015, from the North Las Vegas Airport and flown around the Las Vegas Valley before landing about 2:30 a.m. A man was arrested and faces unknown charges.
