Reno pitcher shuts out Vegas 51s to tie PCL playoffs at 1-1

LAS VEGAS -- The Reno Aces shut out the 51s, 6-0, in game two of the Pacific Coast League Conference Championship Series before a crowd of 3,063 at Cashman Field.

Reno left-hander Andrew Chafin tossed a four-hit, complete-game shutout and issued no walks and struck out 5 on 99 pitches (67 strikes) to tie the best-of-five series at 1-1.

The Aces scored five runs in the first inning off right-hander Matthew Bowman.

First baseman Mike Jacobs hit a grand slam to left field in a 5-run first inning. Jacobs went 1-3 with a walk.

Bowman pitched 4 innings and allowed 9 hits, 6 runs, walked 2 and struck out 3 on 74 pitches with 47 strikes.

Game three of the series will be Friday at Aces Ballpark in Reno at 7:05 p.m. and game four is scheduled for Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

Game five, if necessary, will be played in Reno on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 6:05 p.m.
