The motorcyclist killed early Friday in an accident on Interstate 15 near Sahara Avenue has been identified.
Julius Gerald IV, 31, of Las Vegas was killed at 1:20 a.m. in an accident involving another motorcycle and a Peterbuilt semi.
The driver of the second motorcycle left the scene and is being sought by law enforcement officers.
The Nevada Highway Patrol's preliminary accident report said that an unknown colored sport bike being driven by an unidentified male was traveling north on I-15 approaching Sahara Avenue in the left travel lane.
A 2008 black Honda sport bike being driven by Gerald was also traveling north on I-15 in the left travel lane directly to the left of the unknown color sport bike.
A 2012 black Peterbilt semi tractor with trailer was northbound on I-15 in the third travel lane from the left, ahead of both motorcycles. The rider of the unknown color sport bike lost control and the left side of his motorcycle struck the right side of the black Honda sport bike. The rider of the Honda sport bike lost control and struck the center median wall. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the travel lanes; he was then struck by the left rear of Peterbilt semi tractor trailer. The other sport bike fled the scene.
The driver of the Peterbilt remained on scene.
