LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a suspected gang member wounded in a shooting at a Las Vegas Strip shopping mall isn't cooperating with investigators.

Las Vegas police Officer Larry Hadfield said Wednesday that detectives were trying to identify the shooter and determine what led to an altercation involving a group of people before a shot was fired about 6 p.m. Tuesday at a food court at the Fashion Show Mall.

Lt. Mark Reddon told reporters at the scene the injured man had a neck wound and ran down an escalator to Las Vegas Boulevard, while two witnesses fled in a blue Dodge vehicle.

Shoppers fled the upscale mall after the gunshot, and some stores in a wing near the shooting scene closed early.

No other injuries were reported.

A spokesman for Fashion Show Mall released this statement this morning: “The safety and security of our customers, retailers and employees is always our top priority at Fashion Show. We have a highly trained and skilled security team who is vigilant in their efforts to ensure a comfortable, safe shopping experience. We also have an excellent working relationship with Metro. We are grateful for Metro’s speedy response and appreciate the support of all our patrons and retailers. Fashion Show will open today at 10 a.m. usual.”
