NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Officials are investigating the discovery of what appears to be human remains of a man near Lone Mountain and Losee.
The site is an empty lot not far from a Sam's Club and Lowe's.
North Las Vegas poilce Officer Chrissie Coon told News 3 that the discovery was made about 5:45 p.m. Friday by a construction crew in the 4700 block of Losee.
“Last night we were able to have some experts come out on scene and they believe these are likely human remains," Coon said.
Crews returned this morning to do the primary investigation.
“It’s a very broad spectrum of what this could be," Coon said. "It could be homeless guy who died in desert .. or could be homicide ... there’s really no way to tell at this point. Our primary objective right now is to recover bones and maintain any evidence that may be in or around them.
“In a situation like this where there’s a question it will be treated as homicide until we know different," Coon said.
Coon said she did not know how deep the remains were buried, but said investigators think that the body is that of a man, but won't know for sure until the investigation is complete.
