APEX (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A fire in a trash dump abut a half hour north of Apex may burn for up to week.
BLM spokewoman Kirsten Cannon said the fire at the 40-acre dump was contained Wednesday, but it may burn for up to a week. That could cause smoke in the area which is a few miles off Interstate 15. With the current winds, smoke is entering the Las Vegas Valley.
A BLM engine crew is monitoring the fire.
Cannon said the fire cause was human in origin, but the exact cause has not been determined. She said it could have been a spark from equipment, an errant cigarette or somebody playing with fire.
