LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- Two men were seriously injured early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle rollover accident in the southwest part of the valley. One of the drivers appeared to be under the influence, according to Metro.

Metro Lt. Jack Owen said the accident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. as the cars traveled south on South Jones Boulevard.

A Metro news release said the preliminary investigation indicated a 1998 Chevrolet Venture was traveling south on Jones while a 2009 Suburau Impreza also traveling south in the same lane failed to reduce speed and hit the rear end of the Chevrolet.

The force of the collision pushed the Venture toward the center median, and it rolled as it hit the median. It came to rest on its roof in the northbound lanes of South Jones. The driver of the Chevy had to be extricated before he was transported to UMC Trauma.

The driver of the Subaru was also admitted to the hospital, where he was suspected of being impaired. He is pending prosecution.

The collision remains under investigation.
