Two transported by helicopter to UMC in critical condition

LAS VEGAS -- Two people involved in a major traffic collision were transported by helicopter to University Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.

The two-car crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday near W. Alexander Road and N. Durango Drive. Two people was ejected from vehicles but it is not clear if either person was a driver .

Metro said six people were hurt in this crash in the northwest part of town.

Both people were airlifted to a nearby hospital. One was in critical condition and the other had serious injuries. The remaining four suffered less severe injuries.

The crash shut down nearby traffic for a few hours
