LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas father of five says a typo on the application on a family health plan bought through the Nevada's insurance exchange has him facing more than $1 million in medical bills.

Kynell Smith said he bought insurance from Anthem Blue Cross through Nevada Health Link in October and made two premium payments in January.

Smith says trouble began in February, when daughter Kinsley was born five weeks prematurely and spent 10 days in neonatal intensive care at Summerlin Hospital.

Wife Amber Smith's 40-day hospital stay included two surgeries.

The aircraft parts salesman says insurance claims were denied because his wife's birth year was listed incorrectly on the family's insurance identification cards.

Exchange spokesman CJ Bawden says officials are working to resolve the case.
