Vegas 51s take game one of PCL playoffs, 5-4 over Reno

LAS VEGAS -- The 51s defeated the Aces, 5-4, in Game No. 1 of the Pacific Coast Leage Conference Championship Series before a crowd of 4,083 at Cashman Field.

Las Vegas second baseman L.J. Mazzilli (1-for-2) broke the 4-4 tie with a RBI single to left field with one out in the eighth inning.

Reno took the lead 4-3 in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by right fielder Roger Kieschnick (3-for-4, triple).

Las Vegas trailed 3-0 after 4-½ innings and later tied the scored at 3-3 on a solo homer by catcher Kevin Plawecki (2-for-4) in the sixth inning.

Las Vegas right-hander Rafael Montero pitched 4.1 innings in the no decision. He allowed 7 hits, 3 runs, walked 4 and struck out 6 on 103 pitches (64 strikes).

Game 2 of the Best-of-5 series is Thursday at 7:05 p.m. on Budweiser Dollar Beer Night.
