HENDERSON (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The man allegedly killed by his son on Tuesday has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.
Frank Henry Nichols Jr., 58, was the victim.
According to Henderson police, Frank H. Nichols III, 21, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the apparent stabbing death of his father in their Henderson home.
He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center Tuesday afternoon on a murder charge after he was treated at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals–Siena Campus for minor injuries sustained in the fight with his father.
Nichols called Henderson Police 911 about 11 a.m. Tuesday saying someone had assaulted his father inside the home in the 900 block of Ambusher Street, near Stephanie Street and Patrick Lane.
Officers arrived and found a man dead inside the home.
Nichols said he was in the backyard when he heard yelling coming from inside the house. When he entered the home, he saw a man dressed all in black running out the front door. He said he pursued the person but could not catch him.
Officers searched the area and found no one.
It was apparent early on in the investigation that the intruder story Nichols told was not supported by the evidence. He later told detectives he got into an argument with his father and then stabbed him.
