LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- The rash of weekend accidents in the Las Vegas Valley during an 11-hour period has claimed a third life.

Las Vegas resident Steven Marks, 46, died Sunday from injuries suffered in an auto-pedestrian accident shortly before 11 p.m. at West Sahara Avenue and Arville Street.

A family member told News 3 that Marks, who was blind, was crossing the street while holding the arm of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Evan, 48.

They said she is in critical condition at UMC Trauma with several injuries including a fractured pelvis, two broken legs, a spinal cord injury and a punctured spleen.

Metro said the accident happened at 10:51 p.m. when the two were hit by a 1996 Ford Taurus as they crossed Sahara just a few feet outside of a crosswalk 10 feet east of Arville.

Marks' death was the 45th traffic-related homicide in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
