LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- An 82-year-old Las Vegas woman is dead, possibly the result of a medical episode before her car hit a palm tree Saturday afternoon.

The accident happened about 1:15 p.m. Saturday on Alta Drive west of Rosemary Lane.

Metro said that evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate a 1993 Acura Integra traveling eastbound on Alta Drive approaching Rosemary Lane when it drifted left over the center line and ran off the left side of the roadway over the raised curbing.

The Acura continued east on private property until the front of the vehicle struck a large mature palm tree which resulted in minor damage.

The female driver was transported to UMC and pronounced deceased.

It is unknown if the driver suffered from any medical conditions prior to the collision.

The Clark County coroner's office will determine the cause and manner of death.

The collision will not be counted as a fatality until the coroner's office has made a determination. The accident remains under investigation by Metro's accident investigation section.
