LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A Las Vegas woman is suing the federal government because she's tired of waiting on officials to handle her husband's immigration case. While the wife is here, the husband is thousands of miles away.

It's not easy being a mother with three little ones. Ishrat Hashmi wants help. She wants her husband back.

"It's really hard, it's really really hard," Hashmi said.

Her husband, Tariq Parvez, was deported to Pakistan three years ago when they went to an appointment with immigration to help Parvez change his status. He entered the United States illegally in 2000, and they apprehended him at the immigration offices in 2011. She didn't know it was the last time she would see him for years.

"That time was, it's like all the earth go away,” Hashmi said. “I just start crying and begging because that time I had two kids and I was pregnant. I was four months pregnant.”

Hashmi became a citizen two years ago, and has been trying to raise her three children at her father's home here in Las Vegas. She has many challenges, such as a severe heart condition and the absence of her husband.

Parvez is in Pakistan in the province of Punjab. And two years ago, Hashmi started the process of filing a petition to get him back to the United States.

"I really badly need him because the family is apart. My kids are living without their father and I'm living without my husband," Hashmi said.

She wants to have her husband's case dealt with now.

"I mean, it's two years. I think it's more than enough time to check the background on him," Hashmi said.

Ishrat Hashmi hopes the government responds soon with an answer to her petition, whatever it may be. The petition process that was started is only the beginning step toward bringing the husband back.
