Woman faces 14 counts in securities fraud indictment

LAS VEGAS (KSNV — A Clark County grand jury this morning indicted four people in a case related to securities fraud, including some instances of fraud against seniors.

Paulette Marie Goetz, who also goes by Paulette Marie Schmidtberger, faces 14 felony counts including securities fraud against a person 60 years old or older, theft against a person 60 years old or older, and racketeering. A warrant in the amount of $280,000 has been issued.

James Henry James, who also goes by James Henry Cockerham, faces three counts of securities fraud against a person 60 years old or older, and one count of unlawfully transacting business as an unlicensed broker dealer or sales representative.

Kathleen McCarthy and Gene Grobstein each face one count of theft.

None of the defendants are in custody.

According to an Oct. 11, 2011, article in Vegas Inc., the Nevada Secretary of State’s Securities Division issued a cease and desist order to Corporate Associates Inc. and two CAI representatives listed on its website, Goetz and Chase.
