LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A Clark County grand jury this morning indicted a man for the shooting death of a man at a gas station near Valley View and Tropicana.

Steve Norwood, 26, is facing charges of murder with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime, and discharging firearm at or into an occupied structure or vehicle in the June 17 shooting death of Santiago Flanders, 40.

Metro officers said they found Flanders lying in the traffic lanes of West Tropicana Avenue when they arrived at the scene. He had parked his vehicle at the gas pumps and stayed there for about 30 minutes. Police say he eventually got out and was standing nearby when he was struck by gunfire.

Norwood also faces two counts of preventing or dissuading a witness from testifying. Prosecutor say Norwood sent two letters from jail to his “girls” to get them to intimidate the witnesses to the shooting. But the letters did not have enough postage and were returned to the jail.

Norwood is being held without bail. His next hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 10.

Also indicted today were:

Theodore Johnson, 25, on six counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, five counts of burglary while in possession of a firearm, and three counts of attempted robbery with use of a deadly weapon. Prosecutors say Johnson is accused of robbing the same Subway sandwich store three times. Bail was set at $520,000. He is due back in court at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 10.

Brandon Larry, Kaela Larry and Christopher Sanders, on three counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon and one count each of burglary while in possession of a firearm, conspiracy to commit robbery, and conspiracy to commit burglary. Each defendant is being held on $722,000 bail. Their next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 11.
