LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- Local doctors are asking for assistance after a report card from a physicians’ group says Nevada is facing a crisis in its hospitals.

While Nevada made improvements in the disaster preparedness category, the state is ranked last in the nation for access to emergency care.

This month, The American College of Emergency Physicians gave Nevada’s emergency care a "D-plus." Access in the state was graded "F."

The number of people without health insurance is clogging emergency rooms statewide. And, according to the report, Nevada also lacks specialists and nurses.

To heal the failing system, UMC Chief of Staff Dr. Dale Carrison has called on the Nevada Legislature for help.
