Health District official: Shuttered Firefly could reopen next week

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – Officials with the Southern Nevada Health District say they met this morning with the owner of the Firefly restaurant. The establishment could reopen as early as next week.

Owner John Simmons is working with the Health District to remedy the situation. not only from the dismal health inspection but also from the salmonella outbreak.

Amy Iran, the acting environmental health director for the Southern Nevada Health District, said Simmons is very cooperative and is working on a plan to train employees about proper food handling.

The restaurant was shut down after an inspection found 44 demerits, including improper handling of food and storage of food.
