The sea cow became stranded overnight or early Wednesday morning, and Ponce Inlet Water Sports boat captain Jim Eurecka was among the first to spot it.

"When we first went out there, one of our boats went out there, we saw the other manatees out there. There was about a dozen of them to start off," he said.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife biologist arrived on the scene to examine the manatee for signs of previous capture or stranding.
