LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The man accused of a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip that led to the deaths of three people returned to court this morning.

The lawyers for Ammar Harris are seeking to have their client transferred from Ely State Prison to the Clark County Detention Center. Harris was moved upstate after being accused of having a cell phone smuggled to him in High Desert State Prison near Indian Springs.

Ely is about a four-hour drive from Las Vegas, and defense lawyers claim access is limited at the state prison and say expenses will be very high for them.

Judge Kathleen Delaney made no official decision on a transfer. A decision will be made once a trial date is set.

Police say Harris opened fire on the Strip on Feb. 21, 2013, setting off a chain reaction that killed three people.
