51s rout Zephyrs, clinch 2nd straight PCL playoff berth

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The 51s scored 10 runs late, turning a nail-biter into a rout, and defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 14-5 Thursday night at Cashman Field to clinch a playoff berth.

Las Vegas clinched a Pacific Coast League playoff berth for the second consecutive season. The 51s (74-60) lead second-place El Paso (63-70) by 10.5 games with 10 games remaining.

With 4,820 on hand, Las Vegas also surpassed the 300,000 mark in home attendance for the 32nd consecutive season (1983-2014) and the total now stands at 302,658 (4,656 average) through 65 dates.

Daniel Muno had a grand slam in the sixth inning for the 51s, and Cesar Puello went 2-for-3 with three runs scored for Las Vegas. New Orleans committed three errors.
