LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) –
A wind-driven fire damaged two homes and displaced seven overnight.
According to a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue news release, dispatchers received a call just before 1:40 a.m. of a house fire on Princeton Street, near U.S. 95 and Decatur Boulevard; the fire was quickly spreading to the house next door.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire between the two one-story, wood-frame houses, and it appeared the fire was working its way into the homes.
Firefighters had the main bulk of the fire outside extinguished in just a few minutes, and then they moved to the interiors of the homes to make sure it was completely out. It took about seven minutes to bring the incident under control.
The small space between the homes acted like a wind tunnel, and brisk northwest winds fanned the flames. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
The cause remains under investigation.
