LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — A shootout with police in the northeast part of the valley left two people injured and another in custody.
It all started Sunday morning when police say two men shot a victim at the Heritage Estates Apartments, near Gowan and Lamont. The suspects then sped off.
An officer tried to stop them, but the men led police on a chase.
Police say the two men eventually got out of the car and ran. The driver reached for a gun, and that's when police say they shot him.
The passenger ran into a nearby home and barricaded himself inside.
News 3 spoke exclusively with a boy who was the only one awake at his home as this chaotic scene played out.
“I heard a noise in the back and I wanted to go check, and I saw him jump the fence and come over here,” the witness said. “I grabbed my baby brother, and him and I knocked on their window so they could try to get up but they didn’t wake up, so we had to leave.”
The 11-year-old-boy said his four siblings, ranging from 2 to 17 years old, and his father were inside the home asleep when the suspect busted through the back door and barricaded himself inside the garage.
The witness ran over to a neighbor’s house where he says stayed until the suspect surrendered. His family was not harmed.
