Man trying to help rollover victim struck, killed in Laughlin

LAUGHLIN (KSNV – A man was struck and killed Sunday night while trying to assist a driver injured in a rollover accident near mile marker 10 on Needles Highway.

According to a Metro news release, a 72-year-old Laughlin resident stopped to assist the driver of the overturned vehicle just before 5:50 p.m. He crossed Needles Highway from east to west and was hit by a southbound Honda Element.

The pedestrian was transported to UMC Trauma Center by Air Ambulance, but pronounced dead upon arrival. The operator of the Honda remained at the scene and waited for police.

This is the 14th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2014. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Detail.
