Suspect arrested in series of Vegas sexual assaults

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says it has arrested a man suspected in a series of sexual assaults and is asking the public whether it has information on more possible victims.

Ixtoc Renteria-Bentancourt, 27, was booked Saturday into the Clark County Detention Center on eight counts of sexual assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of sexual assault. He was rebooked Sunday for one additional count of attempted sexual assault and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

According to a Metro news release, patrol officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business on West Spring Mountain Road to investigate a report of a sexual assault.

The victim indicated she met the suspect in the parking lot of a hotel on West Tropicana Avenue. The suspect gave the victim a ride to the West Spring Mountain Road location, where the victim was sexually assaulted.

A crime report was taken and an investigation was initiated by Metro’s Sexual Assault Section. Detectives at the time were actively investigating at least three additional cases that occurred in June with similar details.
