LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) –
Metro has a suspect in custody after a shooting this morning at a residence near Las Vegas Boulevard South and Starr Avenue.
According to Metro Officer Jesse Roybal, officers responded at around 11:45 a.m. to a home on Ethan Brook Street and found the victim. Roybal says the shooting may have been the result of a possible home invasion.
By Monday night, police said at least three people were involved in the shooting investigation inside the gated community near Bermuda and Saint Rose Parkway.
The three people include the person who was inside the home, the shooting victim and an unknown suspect.
Police blocked off a massive five-block crime scene inside the south Las Vegas community.
The victim ran and collapsed in front of a house down the street.
Police say they have heard various stories about what led to the shooting. A home invasion and an argument are both being investigated. Police have taken the person who lives in the home in custody and have a search warrant for the house.
They say they are waiting to interview the victim, who is at University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries. Police haven't confirmed the gender of the victim, but witnesses say it was a man.
Authorities also say they are trying to determine what role the third person played.
The gang unit is also involved in the investigation, but police are not confirming that this incident is gang-related.
