Police: Man suspected of shooting girlfriend's husband

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A man is under arrest after police say he shot the husband of his girlfriend Friday morning near McLeod Drive and East Harmon Avenue.

Steven Kesler, 39, is facing charges of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon, and battery with use of a deadly weapon.

According to a Metro arrest report, Kesler was confronted by the victim, David Eckman, 54, who was looking for his wife, Karen, 49, at Kesler’s residence about 4 a.m. on the 4400 block of Tomer Lane. Karen Eckman told police that they had been separated for a few months and she was seeing Kesler.

Kesler, according to the report, said David Eckman has been leaving threatening messages all night. Eckman came to the residence and banged on the door and garage. Kesler came out to confront him. According to police, Kesler punched Eckman twice in the face and then shot him, grazing his skull.

David Eckman was transported to Sunrise Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
