LAS VEGAS (KSNV – Metro police have made an arrest in a deadly stabbing that took place Thursday morning near Sahara and Rancho.

This was the third fatal stabbing investigation in less than 24 hours in Las Vegas.

On April 17 at approximately 8:25 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of West Sahara Avenue to investigate a report of a male who had been stabbed.

Officers were able to locate a possible suspect, identified as 36-year-old Asa Funderburk, who was hiding in a residence nearby.

Homicide detectives said the suspect was in an argument with the victim prior to the stabbing. Funderburk was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, and faces a charge of murder with a deadly weapon.

Police released a booking photo of Funderburk from a prior arrest dated Dec. 30, 2013.

The identity of the victim as well as the cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
