Metro: Police impersonator arrested for sexual assault

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A man claiming to be a Metro vice detective has been arrested on four counts of sexual assault.

Mark Picozzi, 48, of Las Vegas also faces charges of impersonating a police officer, oppression under color of office, and false information to a police officer.

According to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, investigators interviewed an adult female who reported she had been sexually assaulted Tuesday by a man claiming to be a vice detective.

The victim stated the assault took place inside a hotel room on the 3700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.

Police say Picozzi has no known affiliation with any law enforcement organization, but does have an active warrant from the state of New York for robbery.

Investigators say they believe it is probable other individuals have been similarly victimized by Picozzi.
