NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Mayor John Lee says it's time the public knows how poor its financial practices have been in past years.
The city held a meeting Tuesday night to talk about some of those operations.
In column published Tuesday in the Las Vegas Sun, Lee said that some in City Hall looted millions of dollars from the city’s utility fund to pay for other city bills. He said he believed the practice is deceptive.
In fiscal year 2015, the financial outlook shows the city could be so cash-strapped, the state might step in and take over.
Lee says under his watch, that won’t happen.
The city’s acting finance director says possible business opportunities, settling lawsuits and shared services opportunities with the city of Las Vegas could save the city.
