LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A Las Vegas mom plead guilty in the abuse of her 7-year-old son who died nearly two years ago.
Dina Palmer, who is accused in the death of her 7-year-old son, Roderick "R.J." Arrington, has pleaded guilty to charges of child abuse.
Palmer appeared in court Thursday morning at the Regional Justice Center and also agreed to testify against her husband, Markiece Palmer, the boy's stepfather.
Roderick, a second-grader at Roundy Elementary School, was admitted to University Medical Center on Nov. 30, 2012, with head injuries and bruises all over his body. He died the next day. Police say the pair beat their son for not reading a Bible verse.
Roderick had lived with his grandmother, Latanza Harris, Dina’s mother, and his biological father in Illinois before moving to Las Vegas to be with his mother. He had only been here for a few months.
One person was fired from the Clark County Department of Family Services and others were disciplined after a review into Roderick's death.
