LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- A big winter storm barreling across the country is creating a nightmare scenario for millions of people as the Thanksgiving travel rush gets underway.

Some of the country's busiest airports could see big delays and the winter mess could threaten your travel plans, even if you're staying here on the west coast

The wet weather could not come at a worse time.

Even though the storm is hundreds of miles from Las Vegas, there will be a ripple effect on airports across the country.

So if you're flying, pack a lot of patience.

A winter storm that's been moving across the country is gaining strength on the East Coast during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.

Even if your holiday plans keep you here on the west coast, your plane could have come from New York, so your flight may be delayed or cancelled.
