Based on numerous interviews with witnesses following the late-night incident and evidence collected at the scene, investigators believe Boyd threw a 55-gallon drum on top of the fire.

Heat from the fire caused the drum and its contents to explode resulting in the spread of the bonfire and injuries to bystanders.

  • Third degree arson, one count

  • Mayhem, seven counts

  • Performance of Act in Reckless Disregard of Persons Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm, three counts

  • Performance of Act in Reckless Disregard of Persons, four counts

Boyd’s bail is set at $37,000.

Fire officials remind the public that outdoor, bonfires are illegal and pose serious dangers and safety risks.
