LAS VEGAS -- Metro police have made an arrest in the murder of a man found dead Thursday evening.
Metro officers on Thursday at approximately 8:10 p.m. responded to the 1500 block of North Eastern Avenue to investigate reports of a person who had been shot.
Police and medical personnel located a male in the roadway on Owens Avenue suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The initial investigation by Metro Homicide revealed that the victim was in a verbal altercation with his roommate, who was later identified as Charles Redd Jr. of Las Vegas.
Detectives believe the victim and Redd were walking in the area of Eastern Avenue and Owens Avenue, where the argument escalated and Redd shot the victim.
Prior to officer’s arrival, Redd fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody. Redd is currently housed at the Clark County Detention Center where he faces charges of Murder with a Deadly Weapon and Prohibited Person Possession of a Firearm.
A booking photo of Redd accompanies this release. The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
This is the 40th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2014. This investigation remains ongoing.
