LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- The Clark County grand jury handed down indictments against three men charged with holding a woman and her children at gunpoint while robbing them.

John Kevin McCabe, who operates a Las Vegas Bail Bonds business, John Kevin McCabe Jr., the elder McCabe’s son, and Charles McChesney, a licensed bail agent, face felony counts involving assault with use of deadly weapon, extortion to collect a debt with the use of a deadly weapon, invasion of the a home, burglary, and grand larceny.

All three are from Las Vegas.

The senior McCabe also faces charges of sexual assault; attempting to dissuade a victim or witness; and unlawful possession not for purpose of sale.

McCabe is a licensed bail agent who operates Boomer’s Bail Bonds, also known as AAABeduation Bail Bonds in Las Vegas. McChesney is a licensed bail enforcement agent who works for Justice Inc. in Las Vegas.

The three were arrested in May following a joint investigation by the Nevada Division of Insurance and the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, Bureau of Criminal Justice.

The criminal complaint alleges that in June of 2010, McCabe entered into a bail agreement with his victim. More than $14,000 was charged to the woman’s credit cards without prior authorization. When she put a hold on the unauthorized charges, McCabe allegedly kidnapped her from her room at the Budget Suites and held her in his vehicle for approximately about three hours demanding that she provide him with money and other personal property.

The complaint also alleges McCabe handcuffed his victim and forced her to sign personal checks naming him as payee, give him her bank debit card and PIN number. He used that to withdraw money from her bank accounts.

Additionally, the complaint alleges that in January 2011, McCabe, acting as a bail agent, entered into a bail agreement with another female client. McCabe had her sign various documents, including a Power of Attorney.
McCabe and McChesney allegedly broke down the client’s door and held her and her three young children at gunpoint while taking her personal property, including a laptop computer, video game console and her car.

Finally, the complaint says that in April 2012, McCabe entered into a bail agreement with a third female client. He had her sign several documents, including a Power of Attorney, and held her captive for more than 24 hours to extort money and property from her.

The McCabes and McChesney will next appear in court on Sept. 23.

Also indicted today was Salvador G. Hernandez Jr., 34, on two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon; and one count of first-degree arson. His next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 12.
