Man indicted for string of fast-food drive-thru thefts

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A Clark County grand jury indicted a man this morning who is accused of a string of armed robberies of victims attempting to place their orders at the drive-thru of fast-food restaurants.

Bernard Young, 34, faces eight felony counts, including three of robbery with use of a deadly weapon of a victim 60 years or older; two of robbery with use of a deadly weapon; and two counts of battery.

The crimes occurred between August and September. He is being held on $400,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Dec. 17.

Also indicted today are:

Joseph Hobbe, 47, on a gross misdemeanor of unlawful contact with a child. Prosecutors say Hobbe had targeted a 14-year-old girl at his church in April and reached a point to where he called his pastor and demanded the phone number of the girl’s family to expand the relationship. He was released on $2,000 bond, but Judge Linda Ball placed a no-contact order on Hobbe. He returns to court at 9 a.m. Jan. 6.

Raye Barnett and Marcus Murphy, on possession of stolen property and conspiracy to possess of stolen property. Barnett also faces a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses. Both are to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 2.

Derrick Cox, 25, of possession of a firearm by an ex-felon. He is being held on $20,000 bond and will be back in court at 9 a.m. Jan. 9.
